Es gibt auch wieder gute Nachrichten von VW. Die zweite Generation des Tiguan wurde jetzt mit dem „German Design Award“ in der Kategorie „Transportation“ ausgezeichnet. Mittlerweile ist es der fünfte Design-Preis den das Kompakt-SUV erhalten hat. Der 2012 initiierte „German Design Award“ gehört zu den anerkanntesten Wettbewerben weltweit und wird vom Rat für Formgebung vergeben.
